This bill requires Washington's community and technical colleges and regional universities to develop model policies and procedures addressing secondary traumatic stress in their workforces by September 1, 2025. Each institution must adopt these policies by the 2025-26 academic year, incorporating commitments to workplace mental health support, positive workplace climate with emphasis on diversity and inclusion, campus-wide mental health committees, regular assessments with workforce input, and appropriate training for staff and trustees. The bill also requires institutions to publish links to mental health resources, self-assessment tools, and best practices on their websites, with collaboration from the public employees' benefits board and council of presidents.
